
The phenomenon called floorball is attaining in conscious sport and affects more and more people and their fates.So it isn't surprise that floorball fever is hitting people with a difficult fate, people strapped in a wheelchair. Czech Wheelchair Floorball Federation is respected leader of this sport branch and since 2008, when the very first and memorable international matches between Czech Republic and Sweden was held during the men's WFC, is CWFF a holder of international wheelchair floorball idea. After the first international tournament in history in 2010, wheelchair floorball joined the family of the biggest floorball tournament on our planet in 2011, named as Prague Wheel Open. And what happened then?
The premiere of the wheelchair floorball on the biggest floorball tournament on the Earth started in spring 2011, when the invitations were sent to the whole Europe. In August, only a few days after the Czech Open, 8 teams from the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Germany arrived to Prague. A total of 79 floorball players on wheels were presented. The tournament took place in VSE Trebesin Hall, where the unbearable summer heat turned in a viloent storm on that weekend. 166 goals were scored during the 24 matches.
The Dutch Doing rages through the tournament, but the home SKV Praha ComAp Team sent him in a breathtaking semifinal battle to the bronze medal game, where Doing took a tight win over the dark horse of the PWO from Most. In the final game the home team SKV Praha challenged FBC Ostrava, who were stronger and took the first Prague Wheel Open trophy in the history.
The second edition represents a real break-through in wheelchair floorball. 13 teams from the , , and gathers one week before the Czech Open in . The participation of is a real milestone since it is the very first Swiss performance on the international scene. The number of players nearly doubles up to 160. They scored 230 goals in 54 matches. One more venue was added – the Radotín Hall. Both semifinals are a Czech – Dutch matter. In the first one the Dutch Doing beats SKV Praha ComAp Team 3:2 while in the second the Czech United České Budějovice wins over another Dutch team – De Watergeuzen. Finally the Doing wins the final and after 2011 bronze becomes the most successful team of Prague Wheel Open.
